Mia and her family mo ed to America in hope of a better life than that in China, then in the worst of financial crisis, only to find discrimination and poverty in America as well. Life gets harder, when they are lured into working in a motel as managers, and do more than their fair share, or risk being kicked out by the owner.

To her even greater dismay, the owners son is also her classmate. Thing gets even more complicated when racisms starts to peak in their neighbourhood. Will they manage?
