”Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember its a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
Taking the scene of a small rural town of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s, the story progresses through the point of view of a six year old Jean Louise (Scout) Finch as she experiences the struggles, hardship and prejudice of the 1930s as a child.
The above quote resonates differently depending on where you are on the book, from showing deeper meaning to Jeremy Atticus (Scout’s brother) wanting to shoot a gun, to that of being a sin to kill the innocent.
The story dwells into racism, social prejudice and the injustice of the 1930 criminal system in America.
